The balm of Gods love - What Inspired This Painting

When I painted this picture, my heart was feeling completely amazed and overwhelmed by the compassionate heart of Jesus Christ.

This story came to my mind…of a country where tigers are hunted to near extinction, where no safe place to go.

I imagined one tiger in particular, escaping the pursuit of its hunters and swimming through the sea to a safe ground.  A man was there as the tiger drags himself onto land, weak, starving and near death.

The man pulls the tiger up onto the dry land, holding a light to warm it in the night, and looking out with watchful eyes against its pursuers. 

This is how I imagine Jesus Christ.  As a man He was never afraid to cross over the boundaries of normality to accomplish the mercy in the balm of Gods love.

Balm of Gods Love - in our Weakest of Places

In our weakest of places, in our broken states…exhausted and spiritually dry, it’s the Lord Jesus who comes and pulls us from the raging sea.  He sings over us in the night, and keeps a guard over us against the evil that pursues us. 

The beautiful deep of Jesus heart is unfathomable…it is the balm of God's love for us.

No matter whom you are, where you are, what you’ve done…if you call His name He will come.

You may have killed, you may have broken many hearts, you may have lived a life of cruelty against your fellow man…the whole world may hate you…but the Lord Jesus loves you and accepts you if you come to Him.

The man on the shore of my painting was a poacher.  And in my story, it was this night that his heart broke for the very being he would slay.

The Lord can change our hearts from cold and selfish to warm and giving.

After all…He brings life not death…poured fourth limitless from the beautiful deep of His heart…for you in the balm of Gods love.

In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon.

You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”
