Stories About Adoption - Final Page
Our
translator asked us what we thought about
adopting the little 7 year old girl. I said we
just met her a few minutes ago and we need some
time, to talk and pray about it as a family. The
translator asked the assistant director if we
could spend some time together with the little
girl (playing with her etc.). Time was very
short though and our translator said we only had
until 9 a.m. the next morning to give her an
answer, so that the paperwork process could
begin. We agreed.
The
next morning we told our translator that we were
ready to go ahead and proceed with the process
to adopt the seven year old girl. I read in my
Bible the night before Psalm 37:23. "If the Lord
delights in a man's way he makes his steps
firm". After reading that, I knew that if the
Lord wanted us to adopt her,and that he would
allow all the paperwork to go through.
We
continued to visit the 7 year old girl every
day. In between there were many offices to visit
and sit in the car and wait to get papers signed
etc. One of the officials in the city decided
that he was not going to sign our papers. Our
translator told him that if he didn't sign the
papers she (along with someone from the court),
would report him. He signed the papers!
We
were on a "time clock" because we already had
our tickets booked.
The
judge helped us by scheduling our court hearing
for a special Saturday session. We officially
adopted her that day and picked her up at the
orphanage the next day. We drove to another city
to get her Ukrainian passport, then back to Kiev
for more paperwork.
After completing everything in Kiev, our driver
and translator drove us to Warsaw, Poland in
order to go to the American Embassy. The little
girl received her visa to travel to the USA and
we left Poland. Upon arrival in the USA, she
officially became a US citizen.
The
little seven year old girl's life was touched by
the "love of God". For four years we had prayed
that God would prepare the little girl that He
wanted to be in our family and He did just that.
The
little seven year old girl was asked when we
first visited her, if she wanted to be adopted
by an American family. Her answer was yes! "I
want to be in a family again and have a mother
and father. God had His eye upon her and her
prayer was answered.
The
seven year old girl has been with our family for
many years now and has adjusted very well. She
is fluent in English and loves America!
We
are so thankful that God helped us to "wait" and
follow His plan in adopting the "little seven
year old girl". We are so grateful that she is
part of our family. It would not be complete
without her!
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and
wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14.
